in and around us there is nothing going on nor will there be. once again it will be another warm monday morning with temperatures into the mid 70's. then tomorrow afternoon i think because of the instability in the atmosphere, there maybe some afternoon showers. temperatures will again be into the 90's. maybe 92 or 93 degrees. as we get on into sunday, a little bit of a refreshing air. at least it will not be into the mid 90's. tomorrow when you get up and get out, temperatures will be in the mid 70's. an uncomfortable kind of morning. once again into the 90's. not 95 or 100 as yesterday, but the risk of afternoon showers and thundershowers. if you are going out golfing or doing anything in the pool, keep a year out for the sound of thunder. the inside and get where it is safe. finally on sunday temperatures only 89 degrees. a bit of a break next week from the incredible heat and humidity. this july will be a second hottest day we have had in washington. if you are curious about those things keep posted on our web site. >> did i hear you say onl

i use that in my story. those 2 come from my grandmother, she was the germ, the seed of those 2 books and many others. let's go back to that front porch again. this time daddy james is the story teller. we sit at his feet and listen about stories about sara and pat and nollen. that is my brother, my sister, and me. we thought we were just as clever and smart and just as brave as the children in his story. he told stories vaguely familiar, but different some how because he told them his way. you see, i had no idea my grandfather was a functional illiterate and encouraged all 3 of us, his grandchildren to read. the way he encouraged me, he'd say y'all read to me what they taught you up at the schoolhouse today. i would whip out my dick and jane. see jane run. run, he endured that. he allowed me to read to him. i had no idea in other families the adults read to children. in my house, children read to the adults. imagine the confidence they gave me in my readings. i loved to read out loud. enjoyed it immensely.
